For the fourth consecutive year, Yard Fresh, a pet waste management company based in Canyon Lake, organized a Blanket Drive to support Animal Friends of the Valleys. In the spirit of giving, the month-long Blanket Drive took place throughout November.

The initiative resulted in an impressive haul that included 198 bags of blankets, four carriers, 24 dog beds, seven food bowls, one cat scratcher, 117 pounds of dry cat food, one box of wet cat food, 200 pounds of cat litter, 224.5 pounds of dry dog food, 17 bags and one box of dog treats, 11 boxes of dog diapers, one box of dog pads, and 16 bags of toys and accessories.
Yard Fresh owners Monica and Troy Lyons spearheaded the initiative, placing donation bins at several businesses in Canyon Lake and the surrounding cities. Community members were encouraged to donate new or gently used blankets. Their effort also extended to a partnership with the City of Canyon Lake, where blankets and other pet items were collected during the city’s annual Turkey Drive.
The Lyons delivered all donations to Animal Friends of the Valleys, where they will benefit countless shelter animals throughout the year.
“We are continually amazed by the communities we work in and the city we live in,” Monica said. “To see this level of generosity leaves us speechless and smiling.”
Yard Fresh’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community welfare shines through in this initiative, proving that small acts of kindness can collectively create a significant impact.
