A convicted felon impersonating a police officer was arrest on Tuesday in the City of Hemet.
The suspect, identified as Marshal Goodnight, was pulled over by Hemet police after he was observed activating emergency lights and committing multiple vehicle code violations. Goodnight was riding a white motorcycle with the words “Traffic” and “Public Safety” inscribed on the side.
According to the Hemet Police Department, Goodnight was found wearing a uniform closely resembling a local law enforcement agency, along with a duty belt and what appeared to be a Glock-style pistol. For officer safety, Goodnight was detained and disarmed.
A further search revealed that Goodnight was also carrying two taser electronic control devices, an ASP baton, and a container of OC Spray. Both electronic weapons were function tested and found to be operational, the Hemet Police Department said.
Investigators determined that Goodnight is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms or related weapons. Additionally, he is not licensed to provide any security services through California’s Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
Goodnight was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a law enforcement officer and multiple weapons charges.
“We are committed to protecting our community and ensuring that law enforcement authority is never misrepresented,” the Hemet Police Department said.
