The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspected attempted carjacking suspect.

On Saturday, April 22, at 9:05 p.m. deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to an attempted carjacking in the 23000 block of Catt Rd, in the City of Wildomar.

The investigation revealed the suspect entered an occupied vehicle and assaulted the driver to gain access to the driver seat and attempted to drive away.

A witness who heard the victim yelling for help approached the suspect, resulting in a second assault. The suspect fled the area before deputies arrived.

As a result of the incident, the victim and witness, both residents of the City of Wildomar, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and denied medical treatment.

Deputies were able to identify the suspect as 33-year-old Lake Elsinore resident David Salcida. Salcida is still outstanding, and deputies are actively searching for him.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Nickels at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at 951-245-3300 or Riverside County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 800-950-2444.
