Deputies screen more than 1,000 vehicles at DUI Checkpoint in San Jacinto

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department San Jacinto Station conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI)/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. at State Street and Sagecrest Drive.

Deputies screened 1006 vehicles, conducted nine sobriety tests, made three DUI arrests, cited/arrested 37 drivers for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked, served one felony warrant, served two misdemeanor warrants, recovered one stolen vehicle, and towed 14 vehicles.

DUI Checkpoints like this one are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests. Deputies check drivers for proper licensing and signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department San Jacinto Station by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
