Deputies seize loaded handguns during traffic stop

On July 27, Jurupa Valley Special Enforcement Team deputies seized two semi-automatic loaded handguns, ammunition, and brass knuckles during a traffic stop near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Pacific Avenue in Jurupa Valley.  

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the driver, 35-year-old Michael Clawson of Arizona, was in possession of brass knuckles. The passenger, 29-year-old David Browning of Riverside,  had an out of state misdemeanor warrant.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the location and seizure of two semi-automatic loaded handguns, not registered to Clawson or Browning. 

Police records show Clawson was arrested for being a felon in possession of firearms, felon in possession of ammunition, brass knuckles, and carrying a loaded firearm in public. Browning was arrested for committing a felony while on bail on an illegal firearm possession and possession of loaded firearms. Both men were booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
