The Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station will be conducting a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 28, between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in the City of Lake Elsinore.
During the checkpoints, deputies will look for impairment due to alcohol and/or drugs. Drivers charged with driving under the influence face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol; some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
