The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Southwest Station will hold a DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 28, from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the city limits of Temecula. Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests.
Deputies will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Drivers charged with driving under the influence face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
