The Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station will be conducting a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint in the City of Wildomar on Friday, September 6, from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Another checkpoint will take place in the City of Wildomar on Saturday, September 7, during the same hours.
The exact locations of the checkpoints within each city will not be disclosed in advance. Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests.
During the checkpoints, deputies will look for impairment due to alcohol and/or drugs. Drivers charged with driving under the influence face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol; some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving.
