Eight males and one female were arrested on misdemeanor prostitution charges during a prostitution sting on October 7 in the City of Temecula.
Operating in an undercover capacity, law enforcement personnel placed decoy advertisements and responded to existing advertisements on the Internet that are commonly used for the solicitation of online prostitution. The undercover operators communicated with prospective customers replying to their posted prostitution (decoy) advertisements and females soliciting sex online. After brokering an agreement for paid sexual acts, the individuals were then arrested upon their arrival to the meeting location, according to Sergeant Collazo.
All subjects arrested were booked and released from the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.
The sting was conducted by members of the Southwest Station Problem Orientated Policing Team (POP), in partnership with personnel from the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (RCAHT) in an effort to reduce the demand for sex trafficking in the City of Temecula.
