The Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) has secured $102 million in grant funding to support its critical Septic-to-Sewer Conversion Projects in the disadvantaged communities of Sedco Hills and the Avenues. Awarded by the State Water Resources Control Board, this funding will fully cover the installation costs of essential infrastructure improvements that will directly benefit thousands of residents in the region.
EVMWD has pursued funding for these projects for more than a decade, facing multiple setbacks and challenges. Despite these hurdles, the district’s efforts have finally paid off, securing the key funding needed to move forward. The grant funding, which includes $79 million for the Sedco Hills project and $23 million for the Avenues project, will enable EVMWD to continue its efforts to enhance public health, protect the environment, and increase property values within these communities. The work is set to be completed by December 2026.

The Septic-to-Sewer Conversion Projects will transition homes from septic systems to more efficient and environmentally friendly sewer systems, providing numerous benefits such as reduced water pollution, improved general health, and costly septic system maintenance elimination.
