The sewer pipes in some of the areas of Canyon Lake are aging and portions of the sewer system need to be rehabilitated to ensure ongoing capacity and reliability. During a recent inspection, Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District identified several segments that are in need of repair.
The Sewer Rehabilitation Project is anticipated to start in ” in a week or two,” according to EVMWD Vice President Darcy Burke, and conclude in March 2022. The project includes rehabilitating approximately 3,300 linear feet of pipeline.
The neighborhoods that will be impacted by the work include Granite Dome Place, San Joaquin Drive West, Inspiration Point, Lighthouse Drive, and Lassen Drive. Residents in the impacted areas were sent notification.
Some of the sewer mains go through the front and back yards of private properties because the sewer system in Canyon Lake was installed before the property lines were determined. Trenchless technology will be used to improve the existing pipe from the inside and minimize impacts to the property owners; however, some spot repairs may require digging on private properties.
Work will be performed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. No water outages are anticipated. Residents may be asked to not flush toilets for six to eight hours during certain stages.
Work will be done in isolated sections of the sewer line. Resident access will remain available during the project. Construction traffic or detour signs will be set up, should roads be impacted.
