The family of Jessee James Fischer has identified him as the 23-year-old who was found deceased near the shoreline in Canyon Lake on May 27.
Fischer, who was diagnosed with epilepsy at a young age, had phoned his fiance, Shaina Mejia, to inform her that he was on his way home. When he didn’t return shortly thereafter and didn’t answer his phone, Mejia became concerned and reported him missing, according to his sister, Evonne Fischer.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, along with Fischer’s grandfather and aunt, searched the area where Fischer was fishing. His grandfather and aunt discovered him in the water along the shoreline in the north ski area. The cause of Fischer’s death was a seizure, according to Evonne.
Fischer was a resident of Menifee at the time of his death. He graduated from Canyon Springs High School in 2016. According to his sister, Fischer loved fishing, being outdoors, teaching his son new things, riding ATVs, and bowling. “He was a hands-on type of person,” she said.
Fischer is survived by his two-year-old son, fiance, three sisters, parents, and grandparents. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, June 10.
