Fifty arrests were made during a combined enforcement operation on April 29 in the cities of Hemet and San Jacinto Valley.
More than sixty law enforcement officers from the Riverside Sheriff’s Office, Hemet Police Department, Riverside County Probation, California Department of Corrections Parole, Riverside County Probation, and the California Highway Patrol conducted parole and probation checks, traffic stops, and other enforcement actions in the communities of Hemet and San Jacinto.
A total of 50 arrests were made for various misdemeanor and felony violations. In addition, law enforcement officers seized a variety of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl. Several felons were found to be in possession of illegal weapons, and a stolen vehicle was located and recovered.
Many of the controlled substance and possession-related cases were charged as felonies due to the change in laws enacted with the passing of Proposition 36. These felonies include mandatory appearances and are accompanied by court-ordered treatment for substance abuse.
As part of this ongoing effort, the Hemet Sheriff’s Station will periodically conduct targeted enforcement operations to reduce criminal activity and address issues affecting residents.
