Early morning fire destroys row of vacant commercial buildings at Menifee strip mall

An early morning fire destroyed a row of vacant commercial buildings under construction at a strip mall on Saturday in the City of Menifee.

The fire was reported around 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Newport Road and Town Center Drive, where firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department found one unit fully involved engulfed. The fire spread to additional units, prompting a second alarm request.

The Menifee Police Department assisted with road closures. Newport Road was temporarily closed in both directions.

There was no damage to the unfinished theater at the Krikorian property.

No injuries were reported, according to Cal Fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
