The Canyon Lake City Council recognized Bobby Kielty as March Citizen of the Month.

Kielty is a former Major League Baseball player who volunteers his time teaching Canyon Lake kids to play tennis. He holds weekly classes for junior tennis players, coaches two USTA girls’ teams that typically funnel into the Temescal Canyon High School tennis program, and holds annual summer camps for kids aged four through 17.

Kielty also holds two USTA junior tournaments annually, allowing the players to earn points for their California Ranking. Three of the kids Kielty coaches are ranked in the top 100 in California.

Kielty is a coach for the Elsinore High School varsity baseball team. He coached the junior varsity baseball team last year.

“I’ve lived in the community for 20 years and my three kids grew up here,” Kielty said. “It’s an honor to be recognized by my city.”

The Canyon Lake Citizen of the Month initiative was created in January 2021 to honor Canyon Lake residents for their service to the community. Each Citizen of the Month is recognized at a city council meeting and presented with a certificate.

Community members are encouraged to nominate Citizens of the Month by submitting their names and a short paragraph detailing their good work to [email protected]. Residents of all ages are eligible to be nominated for this award.
