Former Major League Baseball player Bobby Kielty will be joining the Elsinore High School junior varsity baseball team for the 2023 season.

Kielty has played for the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics, and Boston Red Sox during a Major League Baseball career that lasted from 2001 to 2007. In his final MBL season, Kielty won the 2007 World Series over the Colorado Rockies as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

At Elsinore High, Kielty will be assisting coach Matt Mosiello. Kielty has known the Mosiello family for more than 25 years. Matt’s brother, Bill Mosiello, was instrumental in Bobby’s success as a collegiate player, which translated to a successful professional baseball career.

“Working with Matt, I feel that my baseball past and present are coming full circle,” Kielty said. “I’m very excited to work with Matt, who I believe is one of the best coaches in the entire area. He has trained so many Division I baseball players over the years and I’m looking forward to learning more about his program and coaching style.”

Kielty said he is looking forward to passing on the knowledge he’s learned throughout his baseball career to the Elsinore players. “I’ve always known that I would coach high school baseball one day,” he said. “That time has come.”
