Four family members were found dead of an apparent murder-suicide at a home in Menifee yesterday.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported domestic violence incident on Monday at 3:56 p.m. in the 31000 block of Sherman Road, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll. Upon arrival, deputies contacted a male adult who refused to exit the house and told deputies he had shot his family. Deputies negotiated with the male to surrender but he refused, Carroll said.
While negotiating with the male, deputies heard what was believed to be a single gunshot from within the residence. Deputies entered the house finding a deceased adult male with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Three victims suffering from gunshot wounds were also found inside the home.
Two of the victims were pronounced deceased on scene. A third victim was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their names are being withheld pending identification and notification of family.
Investigators from the Perris Station and Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Central Homicide Investigator Dickey at 951-955-2777.
