The Canyon Lake Yacht Club is charting a new course this year, launching its “Land and Sea” theme and expanding its presence beyond the water.
While boating remains at the heart of the club, this year’s theme reflects a broader vision — strengthening community ties on land, building partnerships, and creating new opportunities for members to connect both locally and beyond. The Yacht Club is working closely with the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, collaborating with community organizations, planning group outings, and fostering reciprocal relationships with other yacht clubs.
The first quarter calendar is already filling up with events designed to bring members together in fun and social ways. On March 8, the Yacht Club will host a potluck picnic at Holiday Harbor Park from 1 to 4 p.m. The gathering will allow members to enjoy good food and fellowship in a casual setting — perfectly capturing the “Land” side of the new theme.
Then, on March 13, members can celebrate with a festive St. Patrick’s Day-themed cruise on the lake. Attendees can expect spirited attire and plenty of camaraderie as the flotilla takes to the water for an evening of fun.
Rounding out the month on March 28, the club will host a valuable and informative “Get Your Boat Ready & Learn How to Drive” Clinic. This hands-on event is designed to help boaters prepare their vessels for the busy boating season while offering guidance for both new and seasoned boaters looking to sharpen their skills. Safety and readiness will be the focus as the lake activity ramps up heading into summer.
As the club continues to grow its footprint in meaningful ways, the Land and Sea initiative signals a deepening partnership with local organizations, participation in chamber events, organizing outings, and connecting with reciprocal yacht clubs near and far.
The Canyon Lake Yacht Club was established in 1990 by residents who enjoyed time on the lake. Since that time, the club has operated as a social and philanthropic club within the Canyon Lake constellation of sanctioned clubs and organizations.
With approximately 300 members, the Yacht Club maintains a busy social calendar, bringing members together for dinners, sunset cruises, and other recreation. The Yacht Club also hosts Canyon Lake’s iconic Parade of Lights holiday boat parade and gives back to the community through its student scholarship program.
