A fundraiser for Murrieta Police Department Officer Matt Guzzino is being held on November 7 and November 8 at the Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club, 32001 Railroad Canyon Rd.
On October 1, Officer Guzzino was severely injured in a head-on collision during a vehicle pursuit.
“He has already undergone two surgeries, and some pretty severe internal injuries have forced doctors to sedate him to hopefully help with the healing process,” stated an update posted on the MPD Facebook page.
A donation box has been set up in the Country Club Golf Shop. Those who contribute to the fund will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of four baskets valued at $100. Those who contribute $20 or more will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a cornhole set. All proceeds will go to the Guzzino family.
Diners can contribute to the fundraiser by ordering a club sandwich at the Country Club Restaurant; a portion of the sales will go toward the fund.
