The City of Murrieta invites to public to its Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Murrieta Hot Springs Road Widening Project on Monday, August 11, at 10 a.m. at the Murrieta Hot Springs Resort, located at 39405 Murrieta Hot Springs Rd. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the team and learn more about the project.
The $15 million infrastructure project will widen the roadway from four lanes to six lanes between Margarita Road and Winchester Road (SR-79). This expansion aims to alleviate congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance pedestrian safety.
Some of the major project improvements include:
- Widen MHSR to a full six-lane arterial roadway from Via Princesa East to Delhaven Street (one new lane in each direction)
- Rehabilitation of the existing pavement from Margarita Road to Winchester Road
- New bike lanes and sidewalks in each direction
- New streetlights
- New traffic signal at Calle Del Lago and traffic signal modification at Via Princesa East
- Water quality improvements, drainage improvements, and landscaped medians and parkways
- Retaining and planter walls along portions of Murrieta Hot Springs Road
- Utility coordination and relocations
- Installation of ADA curb ramps
Work is expected to commence in the coming weeks. The project is expected to take approximately nine months to complete, with work being done from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Traffic circulation on Murrieta Hot Springs Road will be impacted, with travel lanes expected to be reduced to one lane in each direction during nighttime operations, and three lanes during daytime operations (two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane). No full street closures are anticipated.
