A 36-year-old Hemet man who was critically wounded in a shooting earlier this month has died from his injuries.
On July 7 at about 11:30 p.m., deputies from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 24000 block of Rosebrugh Lane in the City of Hemet regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male, later identified as 36-year-old Ryan Ankenbauer of Hemet, suffering from wounds consistent with gunshots. Ankenbauer was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
On July 17, the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Eric Gomez of Moreno Valley, was located in the area of Gilbert Street and Stetson Avenue in the City of Hemet and taken into custody without incident. Gomez was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
On July 26, Ankenbauer succumbed to his injuries. Homicide investigators plan to resubmit the case to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office with a request for the charge of murder against Gomez.
