On July 4, Canyon Lake Marine Patrol will be at all launch ramps verifying boats for current registration. Unregistered boats will not be permitted on the lake and are subject to a $500 citation. Boaters ages 50 and younger must have a California Boater’s Card.
Marine Patrol will not be performing safety inspections on July 4. Residents who need to have a safety inspection completed on their boats in order to register them in time for the holiday should contact Marine Patrol at 951-244-6841, ext. 415.
Boats must have one Coast Guard-approved life jacket for each person on the boat. California law requires that every child under age 13 must wear a life jacket at all times while on a moving vessel of any length.
Starting at noon, towing riders from any vessel will not be permitted.
The Happy Camp gas dock will have intermittent closures throughout the day and will close at 4 p.m.
Skippers Island will be closed from Friday, June 30, through Wednesday, July 5.
During the fireworks show, boats must maintain a safe distance from Skipper’s Island during the fireworks. City Code Enforcement, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and Marine Patrol will hold boats 350 feet from the island. The firework show will not begin unless all boats are within a safe distance from the island and the on-site fire chief announces “All Clear.”
The prime member is responsible for the actions of their family, guests, and lessees, including any citations. Should a guest violate any of the rules associated with GR.2.0 in the member’s absence, an additional fine will be incurred. This fine increases on major summer holidays.
