Marine Patrol will be verifying boats for current registration at all launch ramps on July 4. Unregistered boats are not permitted on the lake and are subject to a $500 citation.
Due to the volume of activity on the lake, Canyon Lake Marine Patrol will not be performing safety inspections on July 4. To schedule an appointment with Marine Patrol prior to July 4, call 951-244-6841, ext. 415.
Boats must have one Coast Guard-approved life jacket per person on board, one whistle or horn, approved navigation lights, one Type B-1 Coast Guard approved fire extinguisher, one paddle or oar, one red or international orange flag, and one Coast Guard approved throwable Type IV flotation device. Persons under 13 years of age must wear a lifejacket.
Starting at noon, there will be no parking on any launch ramp. Also starting at noon, towing from any vessel on the main lake will not be permitted.
The gas dock at Happy Camp will have intermittent closures throughout the day and will close at 4 p.m.
During the show, boats must maintain a safe distance from Skipper’s Island. Boaters are asked to pay attention to the temporary red and white buoys with lights. City Code Enforcement and Marine Patrol will hold boats 350 feet from the island. The fireworks show will not begin unless all boats are within a safe distance from the island and the on-site fire marshal announces all clear. Skipper’s Island will be closed through Monday, July 5.
