Hahn, Smith reel in first place in Bassmasters fishing tournament

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club held its monthly fishing tournament on July 11. Nine boats and 18 anglers participated in the night tournament.

The team of Brian Hahn and Jack smith came in first place with five fish weighing a total of 16.14 lbs. The team of Travis Smith and Jerry Jones took second place with five fish weighing 15.54 lbs. The team of Joe Merrill and Trevor Moreno reeled in third place with five fish weighing 14.97 lbs.

The “Big Fish” title went to Joe Merrill, who caught a bass weighing 5.4 lbs. 

Each team is limited to five fish. All fish are released back into the lake after being weighed.
 
Tournaments are held on the first Saturday that follows the monthly meeting. Tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
 
Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday at 7 p.m. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the meeting location has been moved from the Magnolia Room at the country club to the Holiday Harbor parking lot until further notice.
