Hole and Mackie clinch first place in Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club tournament

Anglers Damon Hole and Rick Mackie clinched the top spot in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club monthly tournament on April 6. Their five best catches tipped the scales at 22.54 lbs.

Bob Stevens and Joe Merrill reeled in second place with 20.47 lbs. Stevens also caught the “Big Fish” of the derby, a bass weighing a whopping 8.24 lbs.

Kevin Hugo and Keneti Faagata rounded out the top three spots with 19.77 lbs. of bass.

All fish are released back into the lake after weigh-in.

Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club. Monthly fishing tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday.
