Hugo reels in first place in Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club fishing tournament

Twenty-four anglers in 13 boats competed for the best five fish in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club tournament on November 6.

Kevin Hugo reeled in first place with five fish totaling 17.42 lbs. Joe Merrill took second place with a total fish weight of 14.46 lbs. Merrill also earned the “Big Fish of the Day” title with a bass weighing in at 5.02 lbs.

The team of Trevor Moreno and Kenny Faagata came in third place with a total fish weight of 13.80 lbs.

All fish were released back into the lake after being weighed.

Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club. For membership information, contact Travis Smith at 951-525-7550.
