Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Corona resident in the early morning hours of May 19. Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect(s).
At approximately 1 a.m., deputies assigned to the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an unresponsive male in the 3000 block of Grant Street in the unincorporated Riverside County community of Home Gardens.
Upon arrival, deputies located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and immediately began lifesaving efforts until paramedics arrived on scene. Despite their efforts, the victim, identified as 47-year-old Carlos Villa of Corona, was pronounced deceased at the location.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Central Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and continues to actively pursue leads related to the shooting.
