Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers, and golf carts in festive red, white, and blue. Walkers and runners are also welcome to participate.

The celebration kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a potluck breakfast in the driveway at 30525 Longhorn Drive. A traditional group photo will be taken at 8:45 a.m., followed by a short bike ride at 9 a.m. The “ride” will travel through Happy Camp, continue along Big Range Road, wind through Whirlaway Court, and finish at Moonstone Beach.

Residents participating in the potluck breakfast are asked to bring easy-to-serve breakfast items such as donuts, pastries, boxed juices, boxed milk, and canned beverages.

The tradition of the community 4th of July Bike Ride started in 2004 when longtime resident Karen and Taz Waller opened their driveway on Longhorn Drive to a small group of neighborhood kids and dads for breakfast and a bike ride through Canyon Lake on the morning of July 4.

The Wallers hosted the bike ride for 14 years before moving to Colorado in 2018. Today, Tina and Milton Roller—who purchased the home—proudly carry on this Canyon Lake tradition. More than 100 residents now participate each year.
