Lake Elsinore collision claims life of pedestrian struck by vehicle

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in the City of Lake Elsinore.

On October 4 at about 12:53 a.m., deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Dexter Avenue and 11th Street. When deputies arrived, they were informed that the driver had already transported the injured pedestrian to the hospital in their vehicle.

Deputies responded to the hospital and contacted the driver and the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle was cooperative with the investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries the following day. Their identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin. This is an ongoing investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.

This case will be submitted to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office for review at a later time, authorities said. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact Deputy Petersen at 951-245-3000.
