Lake Elsinore Councilwoman Natasha Johnson has officially announced that she is running for the California State Assembly, launching her campaign to represent the 63rd Assembly District. Her candidacy follows the departure of former Assemblyman Bill Essayli, who is stepping down to join President Trump’s administration.
A conservative Republican, Johnson is a three-term councilwoman, small business owner, and mother of three boys.
“I’m running for State Assembly because California needs leaders who understand the struggles of everyday families, small business owners, and hard-working people,” Johnson said. “As a small business owner and a mother, I know what it takes to raise a family, build a business, and keep a family strong. I want to fight for policies that protect public safety, parental rights, promote economic growth, and restore the promise of opportunity for all Californians.”
Johnson has endorsements from former Assemblyman Bill Essayli, Congressman Ken Calvert, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, and Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin. She has also received the early endorsements of State Senator Kelly Seyarto, Riverside County Supervisor Karen Spiegel, and Lake Elsinore Mayor Brian Tisdale.
The 63rd Assembly District includes the cities of Norco, Menifee, Lake Elsinore, and Canyon Lake, as well as portions of Eastvale, Riverside, and Corona.
