A child whose body was recovered from Lake Elsinore on Sunday was identified on Monday as nine-year-old Dante Clark of Palmdale, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Clark and another child were playing near the docks at Launch Pointe Beach around 10:30 a.m. when they began having difficulty swimming, Sergeant Brad Foster said in a news release. The other child, who has not been identified, was rescued by a bystander. Clark went under the water and never resurfaced, prompting an extensive search.
A sheriff’s aviation unit joined the search from the air while the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team searched the water. Clark’s body was recovered from the lake around 2:37 p.m.
