More than 1231 vehicles were screened during a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Riverside Drive at Lakeside High School.
Two individuals were arrested for driving under the influence, five were cited for not having a driver’s license, and four were cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license. Five misdemeanor arrest warrants were served, one stolen gun was recovered, and nine vehicles were towed. A total of 44 citations were issued.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
