On April 7, 2025, at about 11 a.m., deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence in the 100 block of North Poe Street and located Marcus Bryant, a 37-year-old resident of Hemet, on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite medical aid rendered by first responders, Bryant succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of George Eddie Steven Thompson, a 39-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore, who was booked on suspicion of murder and a felony weapon enhancement. His bail was set at $1 million, jail records show.
