On October 13 at about 4:41 a.m., Lake Elsinore deputies responded to a commercial burglary in the 300 block of Summerhill Drive. Deputies learned the description and possible identity of the suspect during the course of their investigation. According to Sergeant Robert Thomas, this same suspect was also identified through video surveillance in at least three other commercial burglaries.
On Tuesday, October 20, at about 4 a.m., deputies conducted a bicycle stop on a subject matching the description of the suspect, who was identified as 42-year-old Duane Blunt of Lake Elsinore. Deputies located evidence linking Blunt to the prior thefts, according to the sheriff’s department.
Blunt was arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center for second-degree burglary. Deputies authored a bail enhancement, which was later approved by a judge to increase Blunt’s bail to $500,000.
