Lake Elsinore, SWAG to host curbside donation drive to benefit housing for the homeless

The City of Lake Elsinore and SWAG are hosting a special curbside donation drive to benefit The Anchor on Friday, December 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 215 West Graham Ave. Donations of food, housing products, and gift cards are needed.

The Anchor is the city’s first crisis stabilization housing for those who are homeless in the community. The Anchor is set to open on December 30, creating 14 housing units for up to 20 homeless individuals for up to 90 days. The city is partnering with the Social Work Action Group (SWAG) to provide full time social service support at the property.

In addition to the curbside donation drive, Lake Elsinore Gives offers the following ways residents can support the efforts to help homeless individuals through their journey from exiting the streets of Lake Elsinore and Wildomar to self-sufficiency:

  • LE Gives Clean Extreme: Cleaning, repairing, and decorating housing units in preparation for move-in day.
  • LE Gives At Home: Donate goods or money for housing supplies and products such as bedding, dishes, towels, etc.
  • LE Gives SWAG Champion: Short-term volunteer efforts to support the city’s housing site and special projects such as gifts, letters of encouragement, street outreach events, or supporting a housing facility as a volunteer on-site.
  • LE Gives SWAG Sponsor: Long-term volunteer commitment to support an individual, an entire unit, or to host group programs or services on-site such as church services, counseling, recovery support, exercise programs, etc.
