A 40-year-old Lake Elsinore teacher was arrested on May 5 on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child.

On Friday, April 28, at about 9:57 a.m., a Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station School Resource Officer was dispatched to a campus located on the 500 block of Chaney Street in the City of Lake Elsinore after a 17-year-old student disclosed a teacher was harassing her.

Subsequent to this disclosure, a 16-year-old student came forward with similar allegations against the same teacher, according to Sergeant Collazo of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation revealed the teacher, identified as Ryan Campbell, made inappropriate remarks and sent text messages to both victims during and after school hours. The text messages sent by Campbell to the victims had no nexus to school projects or material and the context was inappropriate in nature, according to authorities.

On May 5, Campbell was arrested on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child. According to jail records, bail was set at $5,000 and Campbell was released the same day.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Lake Elsinore Station at 951- 345–3300 or dispatch at 951-776–1099.
