Six juveniles and one adult were arrested following a large fight in the parking lot of a Murrieta shopping center.
The fight occurred on December 12 around 4 p.m. at 23811 Washington Avenue. Several callers reported a large group of juveniles fighting each other and adults in the area.
The fight had ended and most of the juveniles had fled when officers arrived. One injured juvenile, who had been physically attacked by numerous other juveniles, was located and identified. Based on the severity of the attack, a criminal case was taken for assault with a deadly weapon. The juvenile sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.
On December 16, the suspects were identified based on video footage of the fight and witness statements. Six juveniles were located and arrested, ultimately being booked into Riverside County Southwest Juvenile Hall for assault with a deadly weapon and conspiring to commit a crime.
On December 19, the adult suspect, identified as Carlos Mejia, a 32-year-old resident of Murrieta, was arrested in San Diego County and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, conspiring to commit a crime, contacting a minor with intent to commit a felony, child abuse, and committing a felony while on bail.
