Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up Month has been celebrated each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure that every child signs up for their own library card.
For children, a library card can be a gateway to exciting worlds of imagination and learning. Libraries offer programs for young readers such as summer reading programs, book clubs, homework help, and arts and crafts activities.
Adults can also benefit from a library card, which can provide a vast array of information and resources and, connect adults to valuable services and programs.
