September is Library Card Sign-Up Month

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure that every child signs up for their own library card.

In celebration of National Library Card Sign-Up Month, the Canyon Lake Library will have free giveaways for all patrons who sign up for a new card, while supplies last.

Library cards are free; replacement cards cost $1. A state-issued ID and proof of current address are required. A child’s card requires the written permission of a parent or legal guardian.

The Canyon Lake Library is located at 31594 Railroad Canyon Rd. Operating hours are Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed on Tuesday and Sunday.

The Canyon Lake Library is part of the Riverside County Library System. For more information, visit or contact the library at 951-244-9181.
