Lieutenant Rayls presents Canyon Lake public safety update for December

On January 12, 2022, Lieutenant James Rayls of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department provided the Canyon Lake City Council with a public safety update for the month of December 2021.

According to Rayls, deputies responded to 294 calls for service in December. Ten Part One crimes were reported: three aggravated assaults, four thefts, and three motor vehicle thefts.

Deputies wrote 14 traffic citations and investigated two traffic collisions.

Overall, deputies made 18 arrests in the City of Canyon Lake. Twelve of the arrests were for outstanding warrants, four arrests were drug-related, one arrest was for vandalism, and one arrest was for domestic violence.

Police services are provided by the City of Canyon Lake through a contract with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Residents are reminded to contact the police department, not Canyon Lake Community Patrol, for incidents pertaining to the law. For emergencies, call 911.
