Lieutenant Rayls provides City Council with public safety update for month of December

Lieutenant James Rayls of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday provided the Canyon Lake City Council with a public safety update for the month of December.

In December 2020, deputies responded to 391 calls for service. There were five Part 1 crimes: One aggravated assault, one burglary, one theft, and two motor vehicle thefts.

Deputies wrote four traffic citations, investigated four traffic collisions, made two DUI arrests, and arrested four individuals for outstanding warrants.

Police services are provided by the City of Canyon Lake through a contract with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Residents are reminded to contact the police department, not Canyon Lake Community Patrol, for incidents pertaining to the law. For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 951-776-1099, extension 5.

Community Patrol services are provided by the Canyon Lake POA and can assist with incidents such as barking and loose dogs, illegal fishing, loud noise complaints, motorcycle riding in the community, speeding vehicles, parking violations, and other non-emergency incidents. To contact Community Patrol, call 951-244-6841, ext. 4.

The City of Canyon Lake recently launched its Citizen Volunteer Program. For more information about the program, click here.
