Local businesses gathered at Sierra Park on Saturday for some friendly competition and community spirit at the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Battle of Businesses.

The action-packed day included teams of four to seven participants competing in tug-of-war, limbo, piggyback rides, kayak races, three-legged races, and arm wrestling.

Participating businesses included Patriotic Arms, Sports Stop Pub and Grill, Touchless Cover of Southern California, Manhattan Beauty Project, Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, Canyon Lake Solar, Harcourts Prime Properties, Monarch Dumpster Rental, and Coldwell Banker.

Monarch Dumpster Rental came out on top with the most wins, earning bragging rights and a trophy. “As a business, this is the kind of community we wanted to get involved with,” co-owner Larry Bassett said. “We enjoyed the camaraderie and community spirit. Thank you to the Canyon Lake Chamber for hosting this fun and unique experience.”

Several non-competing businesses supported the event with vendor booths and sponsorship. A Rock the Box DJ provided the music throughout the day and So Cheesy, S&B Tacos, and Twisted Treatery offered tasty eats and treats.

Two items were auctioned off, including a wooden flag Patriotic Arms won with a bid of $560. They plan to donate the flag to a veteran-owned business.
