Proactive Legal, a law firm based in Canyon Lake, awarded scholarships to two Canyon Lake students: Nolan Smith and Andrew Grau.
Nolan Smith, the recipient of a $500 scholarship, plans to combine his passion for fishing and his interest in law enforcement by pursuing a career in Fish and Game.
Andrew Grau, who has aspirations of becoming a firefighter, is the recipient of a $250 scholarship. Grau said he was inspired to become a firefighter after putting out a fire in his home shortly before Christmas last year.
The Proactive Hero Scholarship was open to Canyon Lake graduating seniors who plan to pursue a military or first responder career. Applicants were required to submit a one-page essay or a two-minute video explaining why they chose their career path and what they hope to accomplish.
