On January 1, deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a stabbing in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Spring Street where they located two victims suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals where they received medical treatment, according to the sheriff’s department.
Through the course of the investigation, the suspect, who had fled the scene before the deputies arrived, was identified as 28-year-old Andrew Ernest Avila of Lake Elsinore. On January 7, Avila was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and mayhem, jail records show. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 11.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Investigator Andrade or Investigator Mills at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at 951-245-3300.
