On December 7, the Canyon Lake City Council appointed Kasey Castillo to serve as mayor for the next 12 months. As mayor, Castillo will lead the city in tackling pressing topics, fill the role of leading City Council meetings, and function as the city’s figurehead among the five elected City Council members.
As Castillo begins her term as mayor, she offers the following message to the citizens of Canyon Lake:
“As 2020 comes to an end, we are all hopeful of new blessings to be born in 2021. Canyon Lakers are strong and resilient, and even our great city has seen the consequences of COVID-19. But if nothing else, 2020 has shown that Canyon Lakers come together and take care of our community members, physically, and mentally.
“I’ve witnessed some of the most impressive acts of thoughtfulness and goodwill. I’ve seen truly inspiring examples of togetherness, from 9/11 remembrance to holiday displays. I’ve seen Canyon Lake rally around our small businesses and first-responders.
“In times of sadness and struggle, in Canyon Lake, there has been a lot of light. We all hope and pray 2021 will be different, but the sense of devotion to our neighbors is something I wouldn’t want to change. My prayers are for a blessed 2021 for each and every member of this community.”
