Megalo, Hole reel in first place in Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club Open Tournament

With 18.87 pounds of bass, seasoned Anglers Mauro Megalo and Damon Hole reeled in first place in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club Open Tournament on July 23.

Jeff Straley and Rob Schmidt came in second place with a total fish weight of 18.31 pounds. Joe Merrill and Nolan Cromwell took third place with 17.86 pounds of bass.

The biggest bass of the tournament, a 7.49-pound bucketmouth, was caught by the team of Kevin and Tori Stout.

All fish were released back into the lake after being weighed.

Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club.

Monthly fishing tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. For more information, contact Chuck Moreno at 951-837-5941.
