The Menifee Police Department is offering free steering wheel locks to Menifee residents who own the following commonly stolen vehicles:
- 1991 to 2005 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, or Blazer
- 1990 to 2007 Honda Accord, Civic, del Sol, or Pilot
- 1997 to 2007 Ford F-Series truck

During the first four months of 2021, Menifee experienced 114 vehicle thefts or attempted vehicle thefts, according to the Menifee Police Department. Twenty-seven of the vehicle thefts were avoidable. In the months of May and June, thefts declined, except for avoidable vehicle thefts.
The Menifee Police Department offers the following tips:
- Don’t leave keys in the car
- Don’t start the vehicle and leave it unattended
- Don’t leave valuables in plain view
- Consider using anti-theft devices, such as alarms, tracking systems, and steering wheel locks
