The Menifee Union School District recognized two students for their achievement at the 2023 District Spelling Bee.

Grand champion Aden Bundand represented Chester W. Morrison Elementary. First runner-up Elijah Andrew Decano represented Southshore Elementary School.

The Spelling Bee was held at Menifee Valley Middle School, where 28 students competed on stage representing each school in the district. After eight vigorous rounds, Bundand and Decano came through victoriously, demonstrating not only their spelling proficiency but their resilience under pressure as well. Clandestine was the championship word.

“We are incredibly proud of Aden and Elijah,” Superintendent Jennifer Root said. “Their accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both our students and teachers.”

Bundand will move on to represent the Menifee Union School District at the Riverside County Spelling Bee on March 23.
