A Wildomar man on active parole has been arrested for murder for allegedly stabbing and killing a Walmart employee on Monday.
The deadly stabbing occurred around 7 a.m. at the Walmart store located in the 29000 block of Central Avenue in the City of Lake Elsinore, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
Deputies rendered medical aid to the victim until medical personnel arrived. The victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds, was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim was identified as 65-year-old Jessica Morales of Menifee.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Lonnie Will Hinton of Wildomar, later turned himself in at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station. Hinton was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Hinton was released from state prison earlier this year for a robbery and was on active parole at the time of this incident.
“This appears to be a random event, and there was no interaction between the suspect and the victim prior to the assault,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said. “There are no outstanding suspects in this case. Due to the ongoing investigation, no additional details will be released.”
