The Mermaids of Canyon Lake Club will be hosting its second annual ladies-only Derby Day on Saturday, April 29, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Tickets cost $45 and include a boat cruise around the lake, kayak “horse races,” a boxed lunch, champagne, a mint julep, and a Most Fabulous hat contest. Each attendee will receive $10 in “mermaid money” for the race.
Attendees will be picked up by boat at one of three locations around the lake. After a short cruise, the boats will gather and tie up to watch the “horse races,” men competing in kayak races. There will be three races throughout the event. The attendee with the most “mermaid money” after the last race will be declared the winner and will receive a prize. A prize will also be awarded for the Most Fabulous hat.
This is a private event for club members and their guests. Seating is limited. Tickets are available online at www.mermaidsofcanyonlake.org. For more information, contact Brenda Lees at 281-381-8903 or email Lyne Hall at [email protected].
